♥ :: Joe Snow

Continuing on with studio-gazing this week, here’s another UK-based fellow, Joe Snow, the illustration studio of Joseph Nelson.

Joe’s work reveals an interest (and indeed a degree) in design through its clean but playful compositions and his eye for the icon. His work calls to mind the objects, colors and shapes of novelty stores and childhood (hello, whoopee cushion). Or at least the idea of childhood…that nostalgia from the 1950s. (I’m also kind of reminded of the Jetson’s…though I’m not entirely sure why. Maybe it’s this space man…)

Combining hand and digital techniques, we get the sense of screen printing or even printmaking here, with the various textures and the way the colors interact. I especially enjoy seeing his work manifest in objects, similar to CSA‘s work perhaps. Anyway, I look forward to seeing more. Check out his work here.
