Welcome back, illustrators! Here’s some work for you.

Howdy, y’all! Just wanted to officially welcome you back and show some work from last semester’s students from this first project, a botanical illustration in graphite.

I tweaked the contrast a bit with these, because my photographs weren’t so great. But you’ll get the idea of how to lay out textures, compositional techniques and general renderings. As always, happy drawing!

Why do I ALWAYS stress out about drawing? I usually like the end products even if no one else does…
Well, I hope mine turns out as well as some of these did. Thanks for the post / help!

Hi Philip! I think it’s totally normal to stress, particularly in the beginning stages. I just say to myself: what’s the worst that could happen? Also, these are just examples of illustrations that worked, but lots of other styles/formal elements/approaches can work too. Just do the best you can.
      Looking forward,
      M

Turns out I already had a wordpress account. (This is Sara W.) Anyway, these are amazing! It’s rather helpful to get an idea about the project by seeing what others have done. 🙂

Hi Sara! Glad you’re finding this helpful. Seriously, email me if you get stuck. Looking forward to seeing your tree.
