Hello, Spring Semester!

Matteuccia struthiopteris (Alice Tangerini)

Greetings, Illustrators! I just wanted to welcome you to our class website and get you started on our first assignment, a botanical illustration rendered in graphite, as seen above. This project is pretty straight-forward. You will be rendering as technically accurate as possible a plant of your choice on Strathmore 400 paper. The main objectives here are to replicate the plant accurately, and to demonstrate your knowledge of the medium through precision and textures. Of course, composition will be a key element as well.

All course information, including assignment sheets, can be found on the Class Info page. If you have any questions, please let me know!

Happy illustrating,
